mag+ SDK integration for a high-profile Magazine brand

Customer Description

Customer Description

One of the most popular magazines in the US, covering topics such as life, culture, politics, and style, wanted tap into the internet revolution and develop digital versions of its biweekly magazines for easy distribution among its mobile and tablet subscribers, using an app. However, the magazine was skeptical about the digital versions growing to be PDF replicas that would fail to wow its customer base. Additionally, they already had a popular mobile app, with many active subscribers. The magazine was afraid that launching a new mobile app would require considerable marketing expenses to acquire new users and increase its app usage.

A better solution?

A better solution?

Given the concerns with its plan to take the magazine digital, they started looking for a platform that could not only help ameliorate the concerns related to launching a new app, but also develop an interactive version of the magazine that would utilize all the features of a smart device and consequently, amaze its readers. Here are some of the goals they were hoping to meet through the means of an app:

  • Building an interactive digital magazine: Through its ability to attract readers with interactive elements such as videos, images, text animations, etc., digital magazines are increasingly capturing the attention of the publishers. The client also wanted to launch such a digital magazine that would capture the imagination of its readers and allow them to interact more with the content.
  • Building compatibility with the existing app: The magazine already had a large, and growing, subscriber base on its mobile app. To prevent reinventing the wheel, the team wanted to adopt a solution that would work in cohesion with their existing app and also allow for a custom-design UI.
  • Managing paid user subscriptions: The magazine wanted to host paid issues of their magazines on the website wherein the user would have to either buy a subscription or pay for an individual magazine before he could read.
SDK Integration of mag+ functionality

SDK Integration of mag+ functionality

Using the mag+ software development kit (SDK), the magazine was able to showcase interactive digital magazines inside its existing app. The digital magazines that it produced using the mag+ platform, generated rave reviews from critics and users alike. Some of the benefits include:

  • Highly interactive and feature-rich UI: With support for Adobe Indesign curated content, the magazine was able to generate highly interactive content for its app.
  • Integration within its app: Using the mag+ SDK, they were able to integrate our proprietary technology inside their app and consequently, could display interactive digital magazines on their own. It saved them tens of thousands of dollars in marketing expenses as there was no need to promote a separate app.
  • Subscription Management: The mag+ subscription API allowed the client to create a subscription management system for their subscribers, using which, readers could purchase subscriptions or buy individual issues in the app.

This magazine is one of the many customers that use the mag+ SDK to showcase digital magazines on its own app. To know more about mag+ and how we can help you with your digital transformation and make “MAGIC,” please reach out to us at sales@magplus.com or contact us here.
