Publishing Interactive Content with HTML5

Publishing Interactive Content with HTML5

Publishing Interactive Content with HTML5

The not-so-new norm in publishing and education is e-books. The format’s limitless options for interactivity make it a high-quality product that holds the power to put you ahead of the pack.

Adobe’s Flash was developed to support video, audio, and basic interactivity in web browsers, but its days of being used to create online multimedia content are at an end. Developers now rely more on HTML5 to seamlessly deliver content on the web and on mobile devices (iOS and Android), which had become a challenge with Flash due to its lack of support on mobile devices.

Should You Still Use Flash?

If your publishing requirements include distributing content on the iOS platform, you are already aware that you cannot use Flash for this process. If your work requires you to prepare content for a known future requirement, then you should analyze whether you can implement HTML5 now to future-proof your interactive content against repurposing or conversion.

The HTML5 Future

MPS has years of experience working with publishers around the world, and we understand the importance of implementing various apps and e-books with HTML5 technology. Our consultants recognize that content has to be future-ready, which can be ensured with the use of HTML5—an option that was not available with previous platform-specific native apps.

What Does HTML5 Mean for e-Books?

Many publishers recognize HTML5’s value in terms of functionality, animations, and additional types of interactivity that enhance a student’s knowledge and learning experience. MPS provides rich content and supports professional development for students and instructors in grades K–12. Most of our clients have expressed interest in custom HTML5 solutions to create interactive content for their target audiences. With help from MPS, you, too, can create e-books with HTML5 that are future-ready and can be updated easily and published effortlessly.

If you have content that needs to be moved to HTML5, then MPS can support the migration. Read our successful Flash-to-HTML5 migration stories here. Thanks to our extensive experience in migration involving graphics, instructional designing, and programming abilities, we can provide proven, cost-effective migration solutions for your business.
